Chicago,
Illinois is a spectacular gem, one of America's finest cities.
Poised on the shores of Lake Michigan, her waterfront area -
unlike many in the US which are home to industry - is dominated
by parks, restaurants, a golf course, Lincoln
Park Zoo, softball fields, fountains, marina's, etc. Some
of the finest modern urban architecture in the world is to be
found here along with world-class museums and attractions incuding
the Art Institute of Chicago, the Shedd Aquarium, the Museum
of Science and Industry, the Field Museum of Natural History
and the Adler Planetarium - all in or near Grant Park on the
lakefront. On the north side of the Chicago River, at Lake Michigan,
lies Navy Pier - now
Chicago's most popular attraction. In June, the very best of
the blues come to play at the legendary Chicago Blues Festival
- of course, most have not far to travel! In late June/early
July the popular Taste of Chicago packs the waterfront with
those sampling a taste of the city's best food - from gourmet
restaurants all the way to dozens of tables of barbecued ribs
prepared by selected, over-qualified locals. Down Lake Shore
Drive ten minutes brings you to the University
of Chicago. The only caveat here on this great city is that
Chicago can get a bit, um, chilly in the winter.
